The convex phenomenon of belt conveyor often occurs on the middle of the outer surface of the leather belt, or the middle part, which results in fracture of the belt. Having been folded, when entering the turnabout roller or driving roller, the leather belt will suffer increased damage. The main reason for arch camber and folding is that the tensile force values on the middle part of the cross section of the belt are far from equal to those on the outer part, which leads to arch camber or folding when the belt goes to the middle part. The discrepancy of tensile values per length is related to the radius of convex, groove angle of carrier rollers. The larger the groove angle and the smaller the radius of convex are, the more serious the arch camber and folding are. When the groove angle is equal to or more than 40 degrees, arch camber and folding are likely to take place even on the transitional area of the groove angles of carrier roller at the head part or the rear part on the straight section of the belt conveyor. Then the groove angle should be decreased, or the length of the transitional area should be increased so as to make the groove angle of the belt slowly realize transition. As to convex belt conveyor, it is vital that that the radius of the convex section's curvature be increased as much as possible and that the groove angle of carrier roller be decreased provided the transmission capacity is met.
